International Volunteer Day is being launched by the Volunteers Foundation with funding from Hadhramout Foundation-Human Development and Selah Foundation for Development.

This morning, the Volunteers Foundation officially launched the International Volunteer Day in Mukalla. The event is in its second year, entitled "Volunteering is a Message of Peace 2," and is sponsored by Hadhramout Foundation - Human Development and Selah Foundation for Development.

The representative of Hadhramout Foundation-Human Development, Ms. Ghada Alamoodi, delivered a speech during the inauguration and made it clear throughout her speech that Hadhramout Foundation was confident that funding such projects goes beyond simply encouraging young people to continue their volunteer work. It also aims to enlighten them about the lasting impact that good deeds have on people's souls.

In addition, Alamoodi continued that volunteering, even if it does not result in material benefits, is to the extent that they feel the value of giving and that it opens horizons that aid in skill development, enabling them to take advantage of the volunteering and training opportunities offered by organizations, at both the local and international levels.

Moreover, Mr. Omar Al-Haddad, the director of programs at the Volunteers Foundation, emphasized the significance of fostering a culture of volunteering in society through programs and activities such as training, fostering the culture of volunteering, targeting school students, volunteer sermons, and the initiatives that the teams will implement after the training. He noted the development of activities this year and thanked the role of the local authority and sponsoringpartners.

The representative of Selah Foundation also spoke about the achievements of the first version of the program, hoping for more brilliance in this version by filling it with professional ideas and values that embody the principles of Hadhrami since ancient times.

Furthermore, the representative of Social Affairs and Labor on the coast of Hadhramout, Mr. Waddah Baqatyan, conveyed the greetings of the Director General, stressing the support of the Ministry's office for such events and the provision of all required facilities and consultations.

During the inauguration, a summary of the volunteer activities in the previous version was presented, and a working paper was reviewed that included the activities of this year’s program that extends for a full month. Also, a display was shown on the procedures of receiving volunteers this year, which reached 335 volunteers within two days, applying from the various governorates of Coast and Wadi Hadhramout as well as from outside the governorate.
