An agreement has been signed between the Hadhramout Foundation - Human Development and the USAID-funded Economic Recovery and Livelihoods Program (ERLP).
The agreement is to finance and supervise the implementation of the Socotra carpet project.
The project targets 30 women and girls from the Hadibo and Momi areas in the Socotra archipelago governorate, and will be implemented through the Socotra Foundation for Cultural and Natural Heritage
The project aims to preserve Socotra carpet and build professional capacities for its production and marketing.
The project consists of two phases, the first phase of which includes conducting a field survey, vocational training and holding a workshop, while in the second phase it will follow up on obtaining certification and marketing of Socotra carpets as a product of heritage value.
